Could someone please guide me how to create a theme using various icons/background/etc so that they show up under the themes in winterboard?

In other words, I have a collection of various icons/backgrounds that I've downloaded from macthemes. Is it possible to compile them and make them show up up the themes option under winterboard?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I have a series of 22 tutorials (for 4.x) firmware that cover theme construction. You can read the introduction here:

http://www.hackthatphone.com/4x/themes_with_winterboard.html

It's a very simplistic series, but it'll give you a good foundation.

An outstanding resource is macthemes.net forums. Some amazing theme developers there and a very helpful community to learn from. Another great way to learn is just install a theme from cydia, and then ssh to your phone and see how it was constructed.

Thanks, hackthatphone.

Would your tutorials also apply for 3.1.3? If so, I'll take a look. If not, any other recommendations?

My series of tutorials for 3.x firmware is here:

Same basic principles. Some things just work differently between major OS releases.

2.x here:

1.x (summerboard) here:

http://www.hackthatphone.com/1x/make_and_use_custom_themes_with_summerboard.html

These are the tutorials I used when I first started learning the basics of theming around a year ago. Thanks for the great tutorials!
