How to compress a 7 gig .dmg file on to a 4.7gig disk

Hi all

ive look for hours on google for the best way to compress a .dmg file and it has came up with using stuffit deluxe, toast and pop corn but i cant seem to compress it!

Please can someone help, im using an imac 10.5.5

Compression is not infinite. You may have already reached the limit of how far down you can get the thing. In other words, yes, you can crumple oup that paper and smush it down and jump up and down on it, but there is a point where you can't make it be any less volume. So it also goes with files and folders.

Dual layer drives (and DL DVDs) can handle 7 GB DMG files.

Also do a web search for something like ---> splitting DMG files

Thank you for your reply i was worried that i had reach the max compression!! but will def try splitting the .dmg file
