I am by no means a technician so I need your help. I have an old multi purpose (inkjet and scanner) Canon Pixma MP140 and it worked flawlessly with my Windows equipped laptop. Since I moved to a new mba M1 16/512 last March, I have been unable to make the two work together. More specifically, there are no drivers released from Canon so my question is: is there a way to connect the two? Will the scanner work too or, at most, provided I can solve the issue, the only one functioning would be the printer? Do you know how to make them work with a step by step guide? Thanks a lot in advance.

Nothing happens and I cannot select any printer. I thought this was going easier than windows, but it's even more difficult.

I wish I could help you with your problem.

But RE: "I thought this was going easier than windows, but it's even more difficult."...

The issue is not about easier or more difficult. Canon just doesn't issue a driver for your printer, for MacOS later than
OS X 10.9 or Windows 8.1. As I understand it, the Canon Pixma MP140 was first released in March of 2009. Companies don't want to support printers that old. I've been using personal computers since the late 1980s, I've suffered this problem a lot over the years. It's a shame because a lot of these printers still work and produce quality stuff.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply. The printes worked fine and I used it as excellent scanner, I will have to dismiss it.

You can purchase third party drivers for Canon. I have also old Pixma 600 and bought the drivers. They are not native but still work. For scanner you can purchase Viewscan which will work just fine with the Pixma.

I am impressed that your printer has held up this long. The biggest issue I have with these old Canon devices is the inkjet cartridges are expensive and dry up. If you only use a scanner you can get drivers. But if you need it to print consider getting a lower-end color laser printer. Those cartridges don't dry up.

Yup, it happened the same to me, they dried up in no time and were very expensive. Anyway I will try the app that has been suggested for the scanner. This forum is very useful, plenty of very helpful and kind people. Cheers from Italy.

You can also try searching for CUPS drivers so doing a search like

pixma mp140 cups driver

might help.
