iPad How to connect DVD PLayer to ipad?

Is there any way to connect a small portable DVD player to ipad in order to view on ipad screen.

I want to watch netflix DVD's on iPad, I don't want to stream netflix because I have a limited data plan with Verizon and it would use to much data.

Also do mac laptops have a DVD slot? That would solve my problem? I do not have a laptop but would consider.

You can get a MacBook with a DVD drive depending on the model.
