Please help!

I am trying to figure out the best/easiest way to connect my MacBook (Identifier: MacBook 5,1) to a TV?

I have already bought the wrong cord due to a incorrect recommendation!

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I am wanting to buy one that will work with most TVs.

I believe HDMI? Sorry all of this is very new to me....

Mine does not have the minidisplay port thunderbolt, it has the older displayport connection. Does this mean I cannot use the thunderbolt one you recommended?

oh, sorry. i didn't see that you posted you had a 5,1. this should work; there's a lot of reviews that it works, i didn't see any specific to macbooks, but they're all just intel computers. and then any HDMI cable(like the one i linked before) and you should be good to go for video.

for audio, would you want to use optical, RCA(the red and white), or just a 3.5mm stereo plug?

I heard a VGA connection is better than HDMI... HDMI cuts out sometimes.

Try and get one with a PC input and you'll be fine.
While I can't say anything about displayport, with mini displayport I've had exactly ZERO issues using HDMI, where have you "heard" about these issues?

Why someone would want to convert a digital signal to analog if they don't have to is beyond me.
