This is probably basic, but I haven't been able to figure it out or find an answer. My Lionized desktop shows my wife's employer-provided Snow Leopard laptop as a "shared" computer in my sidebar, but I am unable to access it.

Can someone explain how I can connect with her laptop over wifi?

Thanks in advance for explaining to me what likely is a very elementary and obvious process.

Oops, after trying to connect with it, suddenly her laptop is no longer appearing in my sidebar.

On your wife's computer, go into System Preferences, Sharing, and turn on File Sharing. Add yourself as a user and whatever folders you want access to and what permissions. Also, click Options and check Share Files and Folders over AFP if it isn't already.

Thanks a bunch, Tiki — will give it a try this evening!
