How to connect to a shared folder via AFP?

Hello.

I'm trying to access a shared folder on my MacPro on my MBPr.I have enabled file sharing on the MacPro and both AFP and SMB are enabled.

setup:
1. MacPro running Mavericks (the one containing the shared folder)
2. MBPr running Mavericks (trying to connect from this)
3. both Macs are connected to the local network

Here's a screenshot of the file sharing setup on the MacPro. The only thing I changed is to allow everyone to have read/write. This was done because the original setting of "read only" wasn't working.

Anyway, I tried connecting to the shared folder using AFP. I've tried using afp://ip-address-here and afp://ip-address-here/share-name. I got a prompt to login via registered user or Apple ID. I selected registered user and entered the details for the chiyo-chan user. It won't connect no matter what I do. This user is the only custom user present in the OS.

I tried connecting this time via SMB (e.g. smb://ip-address-here) and used the same user and it went through ok.

So how do I connect to a shared folder via AFP?
