How to connect to USB Drive on 10.2 machine over the Network??

I have a mac that has a USB Drive attached. I am also running retrospect on another G3 on my network and I would like to save the backup onto the USB Drive on that machine. Both are running 10.2. With AFP, it mounts the users home directory by default. Is there anyway in 10.2 to allow other share points? Also I tried mounting the volume using ftp, but for some reason it won't let me write to the drive using ftp.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions???
