How to convert AVI to MOV?

Hey guys,

So I had some video camera footage that I needed to edit in iMovie. Sadly, it won't import since the file is AVI. Does anyone know of some FREE video converting software for AVI to MOV? I've been searching for some myself but can't seem to find any free ones. Thanks for the help!

If it opens in Quicktime, you should be able to 'save as' and select 'save as self contained movie'... I still use Quicktime 7 so not sure if it's the same in the new version. I did notice in the new quicktime though, that if you click 'share' in the menu bar, iMovie is listed as one of the options.

Also, the free version of Vuze has a file converter built into it....

Before you do anything else, download and install Perian.
