How to convert DVD iso to a playable format?

I have a movie file that is in iso format. I need to somehow convert it to a file format that will allow me to play it on a dvd player as well as my macbook. What are the steps that I should take to accomplish this? Which programs should I use? Is this even possible?

You will need to burn the iso to a blank disc to play it.

Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities) and click the Burn icon on the toolbar and navigate to the image.
