I am using iphone 4 recently I jailbroke this factory locked phone but I did a tethered jailbreak . As it's tethered everytime I switch the phone off and on I need to connect it to the pc and run the jailbreak app again

Please let me know if we can convert this tethered to untethered via cydia or any alternate method ?

iphone 4
ios 7.1.2

Restore your iPhone in iTunes (7.1.2 is still signed for the iPhone 4)

Then install the untethered PANGU jailbreak from here http://en.7.pangu.io/

Before restoring your iPhone remember to make a backup in order to keep your data and settings.

Hi Henry,

Thanks for the response. I tried the same with PANGU , when the phone is getting restarted by PANGU app the phone is going to DFU mode and again I need to jailbreak as it's tethered and then when the PANGU session continues it's getting either timed out or getting "Jail break failed" error.

For the time out issue : I tried a workaround having two pcs one with PANGU and another with tethered jail break app, as soon as the device goes to DFU mode I will disconnect the USB from the PC running PANGU and connect it to the PC with the tethered jail break app . By doing this I will bring back the device from DFU to normal and connect it to the PANGU , now timed out is getting fixed but getting Jail break fail error at the end.

It's so confusing to know the exact reason :( . Stuck . I came across something on a different forum for ios 6.x where by installing the evasion from cydia is converting the tethered to untethered but for 7.1.2 in Cydia I can't find the evasion :( .

Thanks,
Goutham

evasi0n7 only works on iOS 7.0 - 7.0.6. For iOS 7.1.2 the only jailbreak available is the one from PANGU.

AFAIK there're no tools to convert the tethered 7.1.2 jb to untethered (at least not on official sources). IIRC there was a package to do so around a year ago but was discontinued due to not functioning properly.

Regarding your problem with the jailbreak fail: Did you restore your iPhone in iTunes before applying the new (untethered)PANGU jailbreak?
If not, connect your device to iTunes and hit Restore (it's the button to the right of Update). Once iTunes has completed the Restore your iPhone will be re-set to stock condition, i.e. un-jailbroken.
You can now set-up your iPhone again and afterwards install the PANGU untethered.

Thank you Henry.

I have not tried restore option . Just directly tried to jailbreak using PANGU. Anyways will try this today and will let you know. Thanks again.
