Hello There,

I am wondering about how to create my own subtitles for an avi video. Its for training purposes and I need to do some translation and add my own subtitles. I've got Final Cut Pro, but don't know how to use it for that purpose.

Thanks in advance,
Hasan

Which FCP version do you have? 6/7 or X?
Versions before X came with Live Type, which allows titling "easily", FCP X comes with its own title tool, just look for the "T" above the effects browser.
You can also take a look at the Final Cut Pro HELP via the HELP menu and search for TEXT.

I have a Final Cut Pro X and I did check out the Help file but there is nothing about text. What I would like to do is - if this is easier- to create a textfile with the time codes, do the translations and play it with video. I just couldn't find any useful info on this. Most of the tutorials are either about already prepared subtitle files or text effects.

Maybe look into something simpler: Create Subtitle File Free on Mac
