how to cut, edit and re-arrange vieo footage in imovie 8

Hello there miscellaneous mac users!

I just purchased a used 1 year old MacBook and am semi familiar with its programs but can't seem to figure out how to cut, edit and re-arrange my video footage in imovie '08.
I've read several "help" topics on MacRumours, apple.com, google search and can't find how to do this.

Thanks for all your help, and sorry in advance if you found a thread I must have overlooked.

Yeah, it's a pretty broad question. That's what iMovie is for, and "How do you use iMovie?" is a hard question to answer succinctly.

imovie seemed like it had more options for editing 6-7 years ago. Would it just be easier to delete imovie '08 and download i movie 3?

The best iMovie before they started cutting out features was iMovie '06 and im sure a lot of people here would tell you the same thing. I believe Apple has it for download for free on their site.
