Hi All, You all seem very experienced and I am a casual user. I've been using what is now a vintage MacBook Air (I have other work issued laptops) and have been getting a message on startup that says: "Quicklook Searches Daemon can damage your computer". I've searched and searched to try to eradicate this, run CleanMyMac, etc. and it still comes up. I'm concerned as I'm buying a new MacBook Air and want to make sure I have a clean migration. Any advice on what I should do? Thank you.

My advice for clean migration is NOT to use Migration Assistant (or other semi-automated method). Rather:
1. Get macOS running with your username and do iCloud connection.
2. Install applications from application download (don't just copy from old to new). You may need to do this anyway as some old apps likely won't work with latest macOS.
3. Using a local network connection (enable file sharing on old Mac), copy your wanted files (documents, phots, etc) from old to new.
Disadvantages of this are that 1) you will need to reenter licence keys, etc. for applications not from the Apple App Store, 2) re-do app settings/preferences, and 3) some app data may need special treatment.

And run a virus scanner as suggested above. Default scans for Bitdefender are fast, for Integro slow (but maybe better?).
