iPhone 6(S)/Plus how to delete red notification badges phone and messages

Iphone 6 s plus up to date on version...red notification for phone and messeges is not apparent simple or easy. at least for me to clear.? thanks..until I get an informed method I am going to do the one way that works- clear out and reboot...thanks

You can turn off the badges for any app under Settings > Notifications.

 

[now i see it]

Normally the red badge remains until you read/see all the notifications/ messages. Then it should disappear. If it's messed up & doesn't clear after reading all messages then follow the above advice.
