I just purchased a Buffalo external hard drive. Buffalo does not make the actual hard drives in their enclosures. How can I determine the manufacturer and model of the drive in mine?

Jeff

I know the Buffalo Ministation uses a Samsung drive.

I'm not sure how to know for sure without taking the casing apart.

I know neither my FireWire or Thunderbolt drives show any info about the drives inside. Not in disk utility nor System Report.

I asked Buffalo support. They told me that they use WD, Seagate, and Toshiba HDDs, but that they have no information about which HDD is in my 3TB drive enclosure.
