Just had my machine crash out of the blue then reboot right in front of me. Not seen that with a Mac since like forever. I used to know where to find the relevant output in the older style Console.app - but where do I get this info in the chatty newer system that has been around since at least Sierra?

Locations to look for would have traditionally included kernel.log and system.log and often given hints if e.g. system drive, GPU or memory might be at fault.

Under "Go to Folder" copy and paste this in text box:

~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/
