Ok, I'm about to go deaf from all the times I've accidentally caused a feedback loop while switching inputs... e.g. unplugging my laptop from my USB input device and then running garageband to do some editing... or in the process of switching back I change the output before the input and get the same effect...
I've tried simply going into system prefs and turning the built-in mic all the way down, but it doesn't work! Even at zero level it's still recording... at least in GB.
So, my question is - is there some simple way to disable the built-in mic temporarily? e.g. an AppleScript or something I can do on the command line?
I'm really surprised that GB doesn't have a friendly way to turn off all monitors... or that it doesn't do it automatically when you switch inputs.
I can't be the only one with heart murmurs from this problem
Thanks,
Pat
