I am wanting to put iPads in secure enclosures in our book lending library and don't want any noise to come out of the device. I want people to be able to use Garageband, iMovie, kids educational apps, etc.

Even when the mute switch is muted, the speaker still works in these apps.

Does anyone know if there is a way to profile manage the iPads, maybe through Sophos device management or Apple server for Mountain Lion, to kill the speaker entirely. The plan was for people to bring their own headphones for hygeine (and security) reasons, but now it seems we might need to provide wired headphones securely connected to the device through the enclosure somehow.

Anyone tried this in a similar situation elsewhere?
