I know I can turn on Do Not Disturb 24/7 but that makes it possible to miss important notifications such as phone calls, Facetime calls, and SMS/iMessage alerts...

The Mac App Store keeps reminding me of 'updates are available' and shows a number badge. I don't believe in updates (won't go into that here) and don't want to be constantly reminded each time I unlock my Mac (I dismiss the alert, which won't go away on its own, for it to just come back eventually). I can't edit the info.plist file for the Mac App Store even with authenticated root and SiP turned off, so I can't change the alert type or turn them off or even remove the App Store (I don't use it).

Some thread on Reddit mentioned adding 'block incoming connections' to the Mac App Store to the Firewall. Doesn't work. I got a little '1' badge and yet another update reminder just this evening. Listen. I do not want to update my apps. I don't fix what isn't broken. I got auto updates disabled. I don't even get reminders of OS updates within System Prefs since those are blocked both at the router as well as the Mac's HOSTS file (which I can edit). But I don't know which server to add to block whatever the Mac App Store uses to check for updates. There must be a way to stop them. Any ideas are welcome.

I still have to dismiss the alert (it's not just the badge). Unlike with SMS alerts from my iPhone sent to my Mac, these update notifications don't eventually go away. I don't want the reminder at all.

Since, as expected, everyone makes a joke about my not liking updates, (not surprised one bit) I might just try that shell script that allows me to change icons and UI elements, which provides some limited write access to the / partition (which allows me to edit files, too) and see if I can edit that plist file again.

However, if some of you can't at least be helpful, either put me on ignore or simply don't respond to the thread. Not sure what's so hard about that.

Oh boy, that red icon and highlighting in Music is driving me nuts, and I can't get ResEdit to run under Big Sur.
It's time to go looking for this shell script.

Someone found it online when I wanted to theme Big Sur.

It's called Big Sur icon changer. It is intended for icons only but it does give write permissions to the root folders, including all the app contents.

I don't like seeing the iOS 7 Music icon coming back, either. I despised iOS 7. Here's an example of my desktop dock after editing a few of the icons:

And I can't find a link. It was in that huge 'Why is Big Sur so ugly?' thread.
