How to display detailed time information of QuickTime video?

Hello. I imported a video from a digital camcorder to iMovie awhile ago. When I played back the video using QuickTime 7, I see the time (in the format of hour:minute:second) being displayed at the bottom left hand corner of the playback screen. I am trying to extract a few video frames in higher resolution. Is there a way to make QuickTime 7 to display the video in 1/10, 1/100 or even 1/1000 sec? If not, could anybody please let me know what application I would need to do that? Thank you.
