I have office mac 2004 and for the life of me I can't find a way to display the slides in miniature (you know, in the descending column on the left) like I can in windows vista. Does anyone know how to? I can get neo office to do it, but I can't also display the notes section in it simultaneously. Grrr...

Are you referring to "Normal" view?

From the VIEW menu choose NORMAL and see if that is what you are referring to. This view allows for displaying the content of the slides on the left hand side, the notes for a slide on the bottom and a slide taking up most of the right hand side of the screen.

Keep in mind that PowerPoint on the Mac and Windows are not exactly the same. The Mac version does some things the Windows version cannot and vice versa.

PowerPoint 2008 for the Mac, however, does allow to display a mini column of slides down the left hand side OR as an outline (like Office 2004 does)

so in 2004 office mac, I cannot display the actual slides in miniature on the left, just the contents (in words)? That sucks.

yeah, you are referring to thumbnails in office 04.
it doesnt allow you to do that.

however, if you get really annoyed. then try using presenter tools.
it is as close are your gonna get to getting the thumbnails.

otherwise if you dl neo office it has thumbnail view or if you use pages.

I downloaded neo office today and the thumbnail vertical left-side view is great - but I can't somehow simultaneously view the vertical thumbnails, the main large slide plus the text section below the main slide. Am I missing something? Again I tried to make it happen.

i don't have neo office but like pages, the comments on the bottom of the slides are disabled in default..

you mean, you can only view the thumbnail and the main slide right? no cooment bar on the bottom.

you have to go into... view? or some setting and enable it
it should be in one of the tool bars. sorry, i don't know the exact path

So far I have haad the same problem. I have used the ALL the helps and all of the toolbars, etc. The only way I have found to see the thumnails is in using presentation tools, as noted in another post, of course you then loose the toolbars to allow you to work with the slide.

So as Chris001 stated: "it doesnt allow you to do that." it seems.

By the way, what is "neo office", a new one to me.

Anyone have the ability to solve this mystery?

in office 2008, the thumbnail issue has been solved. so you can get thumbnails..

neo office is free software.. that mimics mircorosft office / iwork.

pretty much same thing.. but it's free.
