I have a USB thumb drive that I have used to do a clean install of Mavericks with before. When I try to boot from it using the option key, I get the circle with a slash through it. Any ideas?

Recovery partition takes forever too, the download is so slow, even on a 60meg connection.

Probably not until 10.9.1 is released. The Haswell rMBPs are running custom builds of Mavericks and aren't supported by the general build available for download.

This.

You are even unable to download the current Mavericks version from the App Store using a Haswell MBP.
