I just bought a used 27'' iMac. The model is Late 2009. 2.66G i5.

How to do a hardware test under Lion? I hold on 'D' when it start, but can not enter the hardware test software. I changed to a USB keyboard, it is the same.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Holding D only works if you have the hardware test DVD inserted.

Starting with Macs made in mid-2007, Apple put the hardware test in the System folder and it was acceptable while holding down D on restart. But if you wiped the hard drive and reinstalled using an OS X media that was not the reinstallation disc, this feature was removed. It is also removed for some newer Macs that have a recovery partition.

I think it is the case. Any suggestions how to do it if the hard drive is wiped.
