How to do clean install of iTunes?

I have a problem with my iTunes 10.
Whenever I try to shut down my MacBook it pops up saying that iTunes cancelled the shut down. This can happen several times before the MacBook will actually shut down.

I want to reinstall iTunes but keep all of settings so that it's as if I never changed anything.
How do I do it?

to remove iTunes completely, click here and follow the instructions. then reinstall it using the standalone installer from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

note this will not touch your media files, playlists, ratings, etc.
