i have SL 1.6.8
i use PGP whole disk encryption to secure my entire hard drive. but i'm worry about my mac get damaged and i lose all my data. i want to do time machine backup on external hard drive. but how i can encrypt it ? please teach me a very secure way which nobody can crack it

I believe when you first do a Time Machine backup, it gives you an option to encrypt (Filevault status). Be wary though, from my experience it takes a very long time and you have to adjust a setting. I tried to encrypt my Time Machine backup up on an external WD hard drive and the drive kept un-mounting itself after about 30 mins. I had to uncheck the "Put disk(s) to sleep whenever possible" setting and afterwards it was fine.

Sorry let me clarify, when I said Filevault status I meant it uses the same encryption method as Filevault, not that you use Filevault to encrypt.

please tell me step by step what i have to do or show me a video tutorial

ps:filevalut is not very secure ...
