Step One: Get a Microphone
Step Two: Record your Voice
Step Three: Host your Recording
Ok, I have just gone through this very same thing, and here is what I have found. First, you will need a better Microphone. You dont really want the bottom of the barrel crap stuff, they are all full of feedback noise. It is really easy to find a good cheap mic if you look a bit.
Applestore Microphone
This is one that had a few good recommendations and isnt that expensive. Best Buy also sells it if you dont want to wait for the shipping and all.
The next step is using a program to record your voice, you can Download programs like
Audacity or
Wiretap. These programs are great for recording all sorts of stuff, including audio clips from streaming sound/video or just your own voice. The advantage here is, they are also editing programs. Wiretap has a free trial version that is pretty small and the trial is very short and Audacity is a free download. I have started to play with the editing in audacity a little and it seems rather straight forward. Where the recording in wiretap is literally click and go.
But they are a kinda a pain for a regular dumb guy like me to use seeing how there are many steps involved with making and recording. something easier I found is a new Web 2.0 online application that has a built in voice recording program. This site was made for online voice publishing, not necessarily podcasting, but that is always an option. Plus, its free and decent. I dont know how well their editing software works, i havnt spent anytime recording yet, im still waiting for my Mic to get here.
Odeo Online Recording
Another really great place is Podmatic. This is also a free Podcast hosting site, and they allow you to have a blog and provide RSS feed for your podcast. There is no recording function on this site, so you will need to use something else as well. i plan on using Odeo to record and Podomatic to host.
podcast hosting
Here is a really great Info site, podcasting news. They have everything you have ever wanted to know about the world of podcasting, from setting up and RSS feed, to publishing.
