Hello everyone. After day of searching for a way to downgrade my ipod I finally found the easiest way.
First of all I would like to say it worked for me and I'm not sure if it will work for anyone else. Also, my iPod was replaced by Apple so I don't have any SHSH blobs saved. When it came back it was on the 4.1 firmware.
All I did was download the 4.0 firmware, and the 4.1 firmware (which isn't necessary). I copied the name of the 4.1 firmware "iPod2,1_4.1_8B117_Restore" and pasted it on the name of the 4.0 firmware. I then went into iTunes 10, and clicked on my iPod. I pressed shift and clicked on the restore button then selected the firmware I had just renamed. It started to restore, and it actually worked. I now have 4.0 back on my iPod touch. I hope it works for you as well
