So you updated but want your 3rd party apps back? Look no further than this thread! (And the link below)

I am sure this has been posted, but why not, the title should help out a bit.

On Windows:
Hold the SHIFT key while clicking the iPhone "Restore" button in iTunes

On Mac:
Hold the option key while clicking the iPhone "Restore" button in iTunes

A dialog box will come up which will allow you to select the firmware file to use for your update. At this point, simply browse to and select the firmware file that corresponds to the version you'd like to restore your iPhone with.

Firmware files have an .ipsw extension and can be found at the following locations:

On Windows:
Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Windows Vista of my laptop (yours might be the same, but it's somewhere in there..just look for it):

Documents and Settings\<me>\Application Data\Roaming\Apple Computer\Itunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Mac:
~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

...From ModMyiPhone.com (this thread). Hope this can be of some help to people.

I believe, from reading other forums, that this does not work. :( If your iPhone is 1.1.1 the downgrade will fail. This apparently is a 'Feature' that Apple has added.

I just tried this on my mac and it doesnt work.

Ok then, sorry about that, just thought I would pass on some helpful info but it seems like Apple are not that stupid. You think the iPhone Dev Team are making a downgrader as we type? Im getting deja vu here...

iPhone Dev Team makes me laugh everytime I see it.

That title makes it look like they work for Apple.

I don't doubt the intelligence or the ability, but we seriously need some truth in advertising here.

Good point, they should be the iPhone Hacks Team or something because thats what they really are.

But no matter what they are called im sure there is going to be a never ending war between Apple and the iPDT and the hackers will win everytime. More deja vu....

i really hope so... i installed apptapp 2 days ago... and now yesterday.... well i don't want to talk about it... i am temped to try and sell my iphone with 1.1.1 on ebay and just buy a new one now that would only have 1.0.2 in it.

Why did you update? The warning was put out. Plus if you are running hacks always wait. I'm not trying to put salt in the wound but trying to understand why you would even update.

LOL. Yeah I sadly can blame some stupid stuff on a few too many myself. Goodluck and hope it turns out well.

haha, nice

Yeah, not so much... LoL!

More bad news, I was reading on HoFo that by the time they break the encryptions algorithm the phone could be obsolete...

To speed up the process they should try the algorithm from Transformers... that was highly advanced!! :)
