Macxtrem.com just went offline and I need to download the entire site so I can attempt to rehost it. I need a folder that I can just host on my PowerMac in a sub directory of my starpc.us (currently offline site).

I imagine that you'll have a hard time downloading it, given that it is offline.

Do you own that site? You can only do that if you own the site, because you know, that silly thing called 'copyrights'

However if you still want to do that, go to archive.org

Or just click this link:

http://web.archive.org/web/20130516135708/http://www.macxtrem.com/

It is archived copy of the website.

If you have wget installed you can do it simply with:
Code:
wget -m http://macxtrem.com

You may also wish to set the follow robots.txt option off.

Your point doesn't make any sense. Even if it is offline, not updated for years, doesn't mean you can suddenly own it.

If you see a house empty for 6 years, will you claim it as yours?

Sorry, you got me wrong. I was in fact trying to support your earlier statement. The line at the bottom of macxtrem clearly states that they wish to reserve all rights (not copyleft or anything like that).

I'm no expert in copyright legislation, but I believe copyright does not expire just because you forget to update the copyright statement at the bottom of the page.

All this does not imply that I could be certain the OP has not received permission to do what he states to be his intention :)

RGDS,

On one hand there is the copyright issue, on the other hand, unless the website was only static content, you probably won't be able to re-create a website from the wayback machine.

Oh my god its bear, I haven't seen a post by you since I was a newbie.

Sorry, was on tapatalk and it doesn't show the forum name.

Sorry guys. Maybe time for an upgrade? :) Mac App Store is very cool

I'm sorry but no one here, except for jeff... is souly using the powerpc arch. In fact most of our main rigs are far more advanced than most people I find come into the powerpc section with a 11 inch macbook air and enough computer knowledge to fill half a sticky note
