It seems that after upgrading to Lion, downloads no longer download. I get taken to a dark page and the address bar slowly shows a progress bar moving across and the file never downloads.

What do I have to do to download in Safari? Thanks

The file should by default go to your /Users/username/Downloads folder.

If not in your Downloads folder, try pasting this into your spotlight search field.

date:>7/1/11

It will give you all files newer than the date specified. I would think they have to be there somewhere.

The problem is nothing downloads. I get a dark screen that opens and the process bar slowly goes across the address field and the file never downloads. This happens on both Macs. I know where the downloads used to go until I upgraded to Lion on both Macs. Now, nothing downloads as I said.

Safari 5.1 downloads to the same location under Lion that it did under Snow Leopard. It downloads to your ~/Downloads/ folder. The major differences between Safari 5.1 and earlier versions of the browser are the downloads progress bar and Downloads window. When you initiate a download, you should see a tiny icon leap to a little icon in the upper righthand corner of the browser. The leap is reminiscent of the leap of the the leap that an app makes from the App Store to the Dock. The little icon shows a tiny progress bar. If you press the little icon, then an equivalent to the old Downloads window will drop down to reveal everything that you have downloaded and everything that you are currently downloading.

Thanks but this has nothing to do with my problem.
