Hi. I have the web address for a movie. It is an mp4 video. How do I download it instead of having the browser automatically play it? Usually, I'd go to the parent webpage and press ctrl at the same time as clicking the link and then select 'save link as', but in this case, there is no parent webpage to see the linked file from.

Just copy and paste the URL of the page into KeepVid, then hit 'Download'.

Copy url, open Safari, go to its download manager, paste.

Something tells me you either didn't understand the parent poster or didn't try your own method before handing out advice.

could you use the downloadhelper add-on on firefox to download it.

You would install the add-on. Then past the link for the movie into the browser address bar. the movie would probably start to play but the downloadhelper addon would give you the option of downloading it.
