How to download only latest email or headers in Mail?

Dear all,

Since I have like 10,000+ emails in my Gmail (IMAP) account, how can I only download headers, or the latest one in Yosemite's mail? I don't see it in the Advance setting under Preferences > Account > Advance

Did a search too, and the answer seems not very clear

Thanks for your help!
