Hi all,

I have an iMac 27” late 2012. Can someone explain the best way to download photos from the iCloud (full resolution) and convert to jpg or jpeg so I can back up to a separate drive?

The current process for me backing up my photos is…
*download from iCloud to iMac
*open photos app
*import photos from the download photos (in heic)
*drag from photos app into a folder on the desktop in jpeg.

It takes so long to do this, and sometimes it doesn’t always import all of the photos. It quite often doesn’t export the videos (taken on my iPhone) when dragging from the photos app to the folder on the desktop.

There has to be a better way!

Many thanks in advance!

I guess they convert automatically from heic to jpeg when dragging them photos to a folder, and have always used jpeg in the past as compatible with Mac & Windows.

I wondered if it is possible to select several photos and convert to jpeg. I tried yesterday and failed miserably. I could only convert one at a time so will take a look at the link you posted. Many thanks!
