My iPad has a series of TV shows I loaded from my old iMac to my iPad. I now have a new iMac and no method I am aware of to get these videos transferred to the new iMac from my iPad. The videos were downloaded outside if iTunes so that's no help.

have you tried Sharepod?
I haven't tried it with my iPad so I'm not sure if it is compatible

I have not heard of sharepod but will look into it.

When the iPad is plugged into my computer and iTunes is opened up the only option is to erase and sync.

As the video was not purchased that option is not available to me.

Is your new Mac's iTunes authorized with your Apple ID under the Store drop down menu?

Wouldn't matter, since, as the OP has stated repeatedly, the videos were not purchased from iTunes.

Unfortunately, the easiest way to avoid this problem would have been to transfer the videos from the old Mac to the new one. If you still have access to your old Mac, that's the easiet way.

If not, you'll have to use third-party programs like sharepod or iPhone explorer. Apple doesn't support copying media from iDevice to computer -- iTunes media syncing is stricly one-way.

I took my old mac into Apple on a Genuis appointment (black screen of death). As I had purchased in on release day last May was surprised they replaced instead of fixed it.
It never occurred to me that would have been an option.

On a side note: the old one was the lower model, 27". Apple replaced it with the premium model at no extra charge.
