How to download YouTube Videos

I want to be able to download YouTube videos for this YouTube Downloader I am developing. So far I found HCYoutubeParser (Github: https://github.com/hellozimi/HCYoutubeParser) It works fine but can't fetch HD1080p videos. I also looked at other 3rd party libraries such as: LBYouTubeView, and PSYouTubeExtractor, but they all seem to be for iOS. Also, all of the libraries that I mentioned don't support downloading vevo videos. Can anyone point me in the right direction any suggestions.

I use the torch browser and it generally does just fine. It's so-so with Vevo..sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Mac YouTube Downloader works every time for me, and lets you select any of the files available, including 1080p.

Why? Not only is it against the YouTube terms and conditions but it also seems pretty pointless.

I'd probably try porting the mobile libraries to be OS X libraries.
