How to email a diary invite using iCal?

Hi

I need to email a diary invite to someone that will open in their calendar - what is the best way of doing this using iCal?

I use a POP account for most of my email but it is not Gmail. At the moment I can only send invites from iCal using my Gmail account - I tried adding my other account but get the message: "No CalDAV servers were found".

Does anyone have any suggestions?
