how to encode tv shows into itunes TV Show format

What renaming or cataloging tool can I use to catalog tv shows into iTunes format for tv series? When I upload the shows in itunes it appears in the iPad Movies or Home videos section and not tv shows like in iTunes 11.1.5.5. What must I do? Thanks
