How to exclude ALL external HD from Time Machine?

Every time I put a new external drive on my machine, which happens frequently, Time Machine tries to back it up, which I don't want. How can I make it ALWAYS exclude external drives?

To my knowledge there is no universal option to exclude external drives. You probably have to include them manually in the Time Machine preferences.
