How to Extend Network by Airport Extreme?

i have a modem which is connected with a netgear router, the signal from the netgear to my room is very low and sometimes drops, i bought Airport Extreme 5th Gen Base Station and i read somewhere that we can extend the wifi network by AEBS, i have tried to do it but failed, So please guide me how to do it as i am not a network person but can do if someone guide me.

Yes i did that but my netgear network is much better then AEBS

It varies based on available equipment. I may be cheaper for you to get an external antenna for the link sys.
