Is there a way to extract all the sms's from the iphone by user.? I'm on iOS 5.0.1 jailbroken non A5. I'm trying to extract it from my phone .

Cyberduck or iFunBox into it and go to var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db

That's where your SMS is.

I've got the file sms.db and when i try to open it with sqllite browser it shows up as empty. is it possible something changed on 5.0.1?

You need the proper database browser. I don't understand why you don't just jailbreak. A tweak just came out on Cydia a few days ago called Message2PDF.

Hi All. I've tried opening the smsdb file and the sqllite browser still shows up as empty. When I open the file file using notepad I can see my sms's in there. Can someone help please.

Sorry had missed this. Where can i find message2pdf. Is there a custom repo that I should add.

You're using the wrong program. But you're not getting of the name of it from me.

Found it. Will test it out now. Thank you so much !! Really appreciate it ..

With iOS5 Onwards its not possible to open with sqllite db. Get messages2pdf from cydia. that will do the job

Messages2pdf still crashes immediately when I start it up. What gives? I can't change any settings cause it won't load

There is something called WifiSMS, Working with 5.1.1.
This allows you to use your SMS on your desktop (text from your computer when you're at home over Wifi).
But also gives you the ability to download full conversation from someone. Once installed, go into the browser on your computer, click the conversation, and hover over the person's name (top of the conversation), and a "floppy disc" will appear for you to save that whole conversation. So far, it does not work with group conversations, but works with iMessages and Text. I hope this helps, if it does.

Examples of what the button and the text output would look like:
