How to extract Video/Image from an Email?

Somebody has sent me an email with a moving image, I don't know whether it's video or just an animated GIF.

It's part of the email, in as much as the moving image is playing when you open the email/you don't click on it, and the email doesn't have any attachment. The clip is only 3or4secs. long and the email is around 900Kb in total.

Questions:
How do I find out what format the image is?
How do I extract it?
And how do I upload a 900Kb file to MR for you guys to see?

Check the source of the mail...

... if you are using mail.app you can find the option under ->View -> e-mail -> file only (that's translated... i'v a german version)

than you can see the "source-code" of the mail.... if you scroll down you probably see something like attachment followed by a long part of funny letters -> thats your gif/movie/whatever... at the beginning of this long list of funny letters you can see what kind of attachment it is (e.g "mime/gif" or "mime/mov"....)

i should take more time....

... and read things through (but it's damn hot here...)

if you want to save the attachment (there are 2 ways to hide them) you could try and just drag&drop it to your desktop (this works for images - i'm not sure about movies, but why not??)

A little more info.

I'm using Outlook/IE under XP at the moment and can't find an option that'll show me the code/html. I can save the email to my desktop as a *.htm and then open it in IE but the clip has gone??

Thanks so far and any other ideas are welcomed, I'll mail it to myself at home and see if mail/OSX is any easier.

i have no xp installed here at work, but if I remember correctly it should be located under --> view --> show source

if you need it now you can mail it to me and i'll (try to) send you that thing (saveable) back
 
OK guys, I'm at the Mac and I've got the .gif file out of the email it's 37 frames and 916Kb.

What's the best way to put it in a thread?
