Under display profiles, No. 13 it list some Apple display make and model info such as Manufacturer (00000610) Model (00009221) and Manufacture date (C5942D00).. does anyone know how to decipher these?

I tried CoconutIdentitycard, but that only give Mac and ipod details based on serial numbers

Any advice/links appreciated

Apple's serial number format for CPUs, displays, iPods, and networking hardware:

XXYZZblahblahblah

XX is site code

Y is year (e.g., 7 is 2007)

ZZ is week of said year.

blahblahblah is model, options, etc.

I guess that serial number format doesn't work for refurbs. Mine ends up being about when I purchased it. There's no way to find out when a refurb was manufactured?

thanks G, you sure? by that format it means that:

C5 = site/factory where it was made, prob somewhere in korea
9 = 2009 (?)
42 = 42nd week of 2009 (?!?)

can't be made in sept/oct of 2009, as we are only in March! :p:D;)

Hmmmm… it's possible the system has changed, but that's how it's been for years

From the apple site. Go to Refurbished Mac/Mac Accessories. They have the 20, the 24, and the 30.

cool thanks. the reason i never see 30" ACDs for sale in the refurb, is b/c i dont think many 30's are sold in australia :D

Ah. I just checked apple Australia and see you have very few refurb items. Maybe they don't break down as much there too. :)

Apple products are very pricey in comparison. and the market is than in the US. And also we are poorer :D
