How to fix constant waiting cursor?

I have a MBP I've been having problems with. I get the waiting cursor a lot, when I'm using firefox, when I come back from sleep, itunes, almost everything I do. I've recently upgraded my HD to 250 GB and just yesterday upgraded my ram from 2 GB to 4 GB.

What can I do to try to solve my waiting cursor problem? I'm running Lion.
