I have a G4 Cube running 10.4.11. A rogue program changed the name of my acomdata external hard drive to a bunch of random characters, i.e. ÄàƒÙÇâ∂üf¯±„‹:
Now it doesn't show up in finder or Disk Utility, but it does show in System Profiler under FireWire Hardware. Shows as:
-----------------
ÄàƒÙÇâ∂üf¯±„‹::
Manufacturer: DMI
Model: 0x550
GUID: 0x101005501073C7
Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Sub-units:
ÄàƒÙÇâ∂üf¯±„‹: Unit:
Unit Software Version: 0x10483
Unit Spec ID: 0x609E
Firmware Revision: 0x353
Sub-units:
ÄàƒÙÇâ∂üf¯±„‹: SBP-LUN:
HID Unit:
Unit Software Version: 0x0
Unit Spec ID: 0x1430
-----------------
My guess is that the special characters keep Finder from showing it. Are the Terminal commands I could use to view the name and change it back to something normal? Where is the name of the Drive held? Suggestions?
Thanks much.
