In SL and every OS before it when a serious issue occurred, like a corrupted hard drive, the way to fix this was by inserting the OS install disc and this would give you access to tools to fix your computer.

Since Lion doesn't come on an install disc how are we supposed to access these tools if a serious issue like hard drive corruption occurs? Is the only way to burn a copy of Lion onto a disc?

Any help is appreciated.

Lion has a recovery partition that has this function plus more.

Thanks so much for your answer. By the way, do you have an estimate on how long it takes to install the OS? I heard it was relatively fast.

Download is highly variable based on your connection speed. Upgrade installs take about 30 minutes for the average computer.

Ok thanks, and ya was just asking about the install not the download, I've already done that.
