Hi all,

I was given a couple of Thunderbolt Displays, and one of them has a few slight cracks in the display glass. What is the best way to seal them? It's too bad that the main crack (about 2-3cm long), is in the middle of the screen.

Glass held on by magnets. Very easy to replace. Replacement glass sold on Amazon for about $70 USD.

Sadly it’s more than double the price here in Canada, so that’s not an option. But thanks for the lead! I’ll check out eBay and iFixit to see if it’s cheaper there.

I don't want to sound mean, I really don't; but I gotta say that I find it almost laughable that you were GIVEN $3,000 (U.S.) worth of premium displays and find $140 (using your stated amount) to be too much to spend to repair one of them.

In excellent condition, Thunderbolt Display only worth $250-350 USD on used market.

If this was 2011, you'd be absolutely right. But 14 years later, these displays aren't worth that kind of money, so your point is moot.

Yes, and the one I'm trying to fix is currently fair at best. I'm guessing I could probably get $100-150 USD for the cracked one, and maybe $200 USD for the one that isn't cracked. The cables on both are in pretty rough shape.

You know what, I apologize for my earlier comment which was based on thinking I read that these were STUDIO Displays, but upon re-reading I see that you clearly said THUNDERBOLT Displays. So obviously your concern about the value of fixing these is completely valid.

No worries. If these were current Studio Displays (and not the ones from 1999), I would totally get the glass replacement for a couple hundred bucks, or even get them serviced from Apple.
