After installing the update to OSX-10.6.5, Time Machine didn't work anymore on my MBP. Everytime I tried to backup, I got an error like this: "The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk".

It appears to be a problem related to Spotlight, which can be solved by excluding the Time Machine Backup from indexing. This is done as follows:

(1) Make sure your Time Machine Backup is mounted: manually starting a backup will always trigger the system to mount it.
(2) Go to System Preferences
(3) Go to the Spotlight panel
(4) Go to the privacy tab
(5) Click the + sign, and add your Time Machine Backup to locations that are to be excluded by Spotlight.
