So I had to update to Yosemite from Mountain Lion, because I had to update from iOS 9 to iOS 10. There is a pattern to this. Post Steve Jobs, Apple has really gone down hill. From being innovative and simple, but elegant and very useful, to frustrating and stupid. All the features that were great in Snow Leopard (my favorite Mac OS after OS X was introduced), were eliminated in Mountain Lion. I had to find third party software to get them back. Never had to before Mountain Lion. Then the useful features in Mountain Lion were removed with something, imo, far inferior to what was before. One step forward, two steps back.
Enter "Tags". In ML and earlier, if I wanted to change multiple tags/colored folders or files, I just had to select all of them and choose the new color I wanted. Bam. All changed. Now, under Yosemite, if I do the same thing, it DOESN'T change the colors, but rather ADDS it. Then I have to do the extra steps in clearing the previous tag. Why TF do I want to add more tags??? Why can't I just change it all in one shot? Is there a way to do this WITHOUT looking for a third party plugin or software? Why can't Apple just make an "on and off" feature for the features it would rather remove to satisfy new users? Give the old users the option to opt in or out, so they can keep the features they've found useful over the years. And still useful, till they were removed.
Seems to me post Steve Jobs Apple, is going the way of Microsoft. You know, takes more steps do something, or you need third party software to be more productive, or for your Mac to be more useful. All I'm seeing now, from my 25+ years of using Macs, is more glitz and glam, not really any useful functionality. At least that isn't to do with Social Media. What is going on with Apple?? Jobs would be turning in his grave. Old slogan, "It Just Works". New slogan, "It Doesn't Work Like It Used To". Perhaps, they are trying to get Windows converts, so they are dumbing down their OS X series? Mac OS X was too simple to use, that it was very difficult for Windows users moving over to Macs. lol
