How to force SMS/Push/etc sounds out via headset?

I have searched and searched. I see plenty of threads saying it might be possible with a jailbreak, but none give details.

How can I do it when my phone is already jailbroken?

I already hear my keyboard typing sounds through my headset without jailbreaking, are you sure it doesn't already push SMS sounds through the headset?

Yes, I'm positive. The SMS, push email, and other sounds are not send out through the headset.

When the phone is on vibrate those sounds do not come thru the headset. Not sure why apple did that but I too would like to know if there's a way.

If the OP is talking about a mono(single ear) vs stereo(both ears) headset there is an app(toggle) for SBSettings called BluetoothMono. It allows all sounds/ music to be heard on a mono(single ear) BT headset.
